Yes, you can use the hot pot sliced beef from Costco, they are not super thin and it’s good for this recipe.

I can readily pick up packs of sliced meats from the freezer section of my costco or asian market. I figure this can be a quick meal with refrigerator stock items.

Hi Joanna, they are close enough, you can use Korean radish. Regarding freezing this soup, since the daikon is so thinly sliced, they might dissolve when you reheat it.

I read that Korean radish and daikon were very similar, I only found green daikon and was unsure if that was the same, so I ended up getting the Korean radish. Would you recommend the same method as above? Also, any tips if I were to freeze this after I make it? I guess the radish might be too delicate… Thank you in advance!

You can use all stock, all water or half water / half stock :-)

Hi Sondra, this soup goes with everything Chinese, but it is especially good with dumplings, scallion pancakes, lo meins, and or noodle dishes like You Po Mian.
