Hi Dan, that is exactly what we do! As for the pots and planters on the other side, just be careful you’re not overcrowding the fence area. They need good sun ;)

My kabocha plants are planted in the dirt next to a fence. On the other side of the fence is concrete. For the concrete side, I am considering both (a) tying some stems to the fence to encourage more vertical growth and (b) placing pots or planters with potting soil on the concrete to provide an option for getting more nutrients into the plants. I will appreciate any suggestions you folks may have.

Hi Gerrie, you should be able to grow Kabocha squash in your warm climate! Start in the springtime and by late summer they should be ready!
