Just made this for the first time. Substituted ground chicken for the ground pork and it worked great. For next time need to make sure that the chili oil in the first step is made at low temp and to keep the Sichuan peppers on the low side so that they don’t overwhelm the rest of the flavors. Everyone at this end loved the recipe and said that it tasted just like the restaurant ones.

The other famous Sichaun dish is Dan Dan Mien which uses the black vinegar and sesame paste. I have made many versions of Mabo Dofu and Sarah’s is my favorite. In fact i will make it tonight!

I used three table spoons of the chili crisp plus a little extra oil from the jar and two tablespoons of the black bean sauce. I also added some bock choi at the end. It has plenty of heat and tons of flavor! Cannot wait to make this again. I may suggest using a firmer tofu so it doesn’t fall apart. Thanks for the recipe!
