We really loved this one as it is and then also tried tweaking it a bit. We doubled up on garlic and ginger as we like those strong flavours, and fried and added some large onion slices. Splashed some crispy chilli oil on the steamed rice, which really brought the flavours together x

Hi Heather, you don’t have to rinse the baking soda if you follow the directions in this recipe. It uses the shortcut beef velveting method. You can read all about the methods in our article on velveting beef.

Bill, I just used a Taiwanese cooking wine. If I didn’t have that, do you think a dry vermouth would work? I use it for a lot of recipes that call for a dry white wine.
